Solution Architect

Working as part of our Data Engineering and Business Intelligence team, your role will be to work in a collaborative environment, problem solving and working one or more agile teams to deliver a world class, modern, global data platform. In order to succeed in this role, you will be required to understand requirements from stakeholders, design data structures and data models, create patterns and practices for the design and build of data pipelines, and understand how to build secure, scalable, efficient and fault tolerant solutions within cloud environments. 

Primary Functions: 

• Create design patterns and best practices for data in our cloud data lake ecosystem
• Ensure quality of technical solutions developed by the team
• Recommend ways to improve data reliability, scalability, performance, and quality, while managing risk and cost
• Improve data sharing capabilities and reduce the cost of data acquisition and data management
• Help increase the reuse of common processes and services and reduce unnecessary duplication
• Partake in peer reviews and cross team code reviews to ensure all solutions developed meet required standards
• Analyze source systems, define underlying data sources and transformation requirements, design suitable data models and document the design/specifications
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the Data Engineering and Business Intelligence team’s processes and collective skill sets
• Provide insight into the changing data environment, data processing, data storage and utilization requirements for Monster and offer suggestions for solutions
• Influence stakeholders on the case for change
• Ability to build and articulate an architecture assessment and communicate current to future state plans, focused on clear benefits to both IT and business users
• Ability to evaluate latest data architecture trends and recommend options to accelerate Monster’s data journey

Knowledge and Skills: 

• Diverse technical background with over 5 years of experience in the development of data platforms in an Agile environment
• Over 3 years of experience working within a production cloud data infrastructure including design, implementation and maintenance in GCP
• At least 3years of experience with SQL development across multiple language variations (g. SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL and Big Query)
• At least 2 years of experience developing data pipelines with orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow or GCP Composer
• Over 2 years of experience in Python development
• Experience working with both structured and non-structured data in various formats such as JSON, AVRO, CSV, TSV, PDF etc. required
• Experience of encrypting and obfuscating sensitive data
• Experience of deploying Infrastructure as Code preferably using Terraform
• Experience of developing ETL and ELT data pipelines using Apache Beam, GCP Dataflow, Apache Spark or GCP Dataproc
• Knowledge of CI\CD best practices
• Relentless focus on continuous improvement of solutions and processes to improve data reliability, efficiency, quality and the Data Engineering and BI Team at Monster
• Good communications skills across all levels of stakeholder (business and technical)

Nice to Have: 

• Experience with Looker
• Knowledge of Salesforce, Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Zuora
• Experience using Datadog, Stackdriver and Pager Duty
• Over 2 years of experience in Scala development
