Associate Software Engineer

Fastweb is seeking a talented Associate Software Engineer to join the team! In this position, you will work on a small team of web engineers using Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, HTML/CSS and other emerging technologies. We're a division of Monster.com and are responsible for a set of platforms and applications that are used by the company to help millions of users advance their careers and education. We currently need another engineer to help us round out the team and are hoping you're passionate about designing and coding well-crafted, high-performance software and enjoy working with a small, dedicated team. This is a remote position, so strong communication skills and self-motivation are a must!

Responsibilities 

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain current and new Ruby on Rails applications using Foundation as a frontend framework
  • Participate in all aspects of our agile development process including requirements analysis and design; work closely with technical, design, and product teams  
  • Communicate regularly with team members and management in a clear, concise manner
  • Provide input to execute on efforts to improve the efficiency and quality of our development projects    
  • Conduct and assist in unit, integration, and production testing
  • Stay current with latest technologies and best practices being used by the larger software community

 

Job Requirements

  • 2+ years of Ruby on Rails web application development experience
  • Solid knowledge of Object Oriented design and best practices
  • Basic knowledge of HTML5, CSS, jQuery, JavaScript in a cross-browser/platform/device environment
  • Basic knowledge of relational databases, SQL-based preferred, comfortable writing basic scripts, running queries, etc
  • Knowledge of current Web development standards, common libraries, and tools
  • Understanding of defensive coding methodologies and practices including Unit Testing and consideration of Edge Cases
  • Highly motivated and excellent communication and collaboration skills
