Data Migration Lead Engineer

Monster Worldwide is seeking a Data Migration Lead Engineer to lead the architecture, design and implementation of the Monster Government Solutions (MGS) data migration platform. Our MGS Division is one of the fastest growing units of the company, providing a variety of hiring and onboarding solutions to the US, state, and local governments.  Our Career Sites enable organizations to have private job boards while leveraging the Monster platform, connecting job seekers with career resources and relevant jobs while helping employers identify and hire talent. As a member of this team, this Data Migration Lead Engineer will be contributing to these and other business critical solutions for our government clients.

Responsibilities

  • Participate/Lead the designing and implementing a data migration platform to support all future client onboarding needs.
  • Managing the entire data migration process by identifying and foreseeing potential issues and providing quick resolution before they become larger problems.
  • Collaborating with the client and determining their data needs, including the types of data that need to be migrated and how the data will be used.
  • Evaluating existing computer systems to decide the best data migration method from system to system.
  • Inventorying the data to be migrated to determine how much time and effort will be required.
  • Establishing testing procedures to ensure that the migrated data is accurate and consistent with client specifications.
  • Monitoring project performance and progress ensuring that it is completed on time and within budget and providing status reports to stakeholders on a regular basis.
  • Providing technical support for the data migration process.
  • Creating documentation throughout the process to serve as a guide for future migration projects.

 Job Requirements

  • 12 years of software engineering experience
  • 8 years of data development experience with demonstrable experience and fundamental understanding of legacy and modern data systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science preferred. Experience in lieu of degree may be accepted.
  • Experience with designing and developing both NoSQL and relational databases.
  • Experience with implementing and supporting ETL/ELT data pipelines.
  • Experience with AWS cloud computing platform.
  • Practical knowledge of how to design and implement RESTful Web APIs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to be creative, flexible, and objective in a dynamic, agile development methodology.

Nice to have

  • Familiar with distributed event streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka
  • Familiar with Amazon Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (Amazon MSK)
  • Experience evaluating and leveraging IaaS, PaaS or SaaS products.

*Salary range for this position: $134,400 - $201,600

Pay offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors including the candidate’s education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc. Based on eligibility, a successful candidate’s total compensation may include a variable pay plan including bonus(es) and/or commission(s). In setting compensation, Monster complies with all local wage and hour laws.
